palila hānai

In Hawaii, hānai – a practice of informal adoption – is extended as a loving act to non-relatives, anyone in need of a family. As of 2025, there are about 200 Palila left. I created mixed media paintings on wood, each unique and based on a frame of A PARADISE LOST.

Adopting a Palila painting is a symbolic gesture to pledge your support for Palila and the hundreds of other endangered Hawaiian species!

Mahalo to our amazing Palila Parents!
